Page Leader: Helena Haapio

Helena Haapio is international contract counsel for Lexpert Ltd in Helsinki, Finland. She works with management teams to prevent problems through systems and in-house training programs integrating quality and risk management with proactive contracting. In her recent workshops and publications, she has successfully applied the same approach to B2B e-contracting, with the aim of securing a safe transition to cyberspace for traditional businesses and promoting interprofessional cooperation and public recognition of preventive law. Before Lexpert Ltd, Ms. Haapio served seven years as in-house counsel for Wärtsilä Group companies in Finland, Norway, Sweden, and the United States.

Ms. Haapio has designed and conducted public and in-house workshops and training sessions in Europe, Americas, and South-East Asia. In 1985, she was nominated "Export Trainer of the Year" by the Finnish Institute for International Trade (Fintra).

Studies LL.M., University of Turku, Finland; Diploma in Legal Studies, University of Cambridge, England, after post-graduate studies at the said University and at the University of Hamburg, Germany, and Stockholm, Sweden.

 

 

 

Page Leader:  Daniel Hapke

After a brief stint with a law firm, Mr. Hapke began a 25 year career practicing law in-house in three major corporations:

Sverdrup Corporation (1975 –1984) then one of the ten largest Engineering/Architecture firms in the U.S and now part of Jacobs Engineering Group of Pasadena, California

General Dynamics Corporation (1984--1997) one of the world’s largest defense contractors, now based in Falls Church, Virginia

Cordant Technologies Inc. (1997—2000) then a Fortune 600 manufacturer of commercial aerospace and automotive components based in Salt Lake City and now part of Alcoa

As an in-house generalist Mr. Hapke has experience in most of the substantive areas of the law affecting the above companies as well as compliance programs, business ethics programs and legal best practices. Mr. Hapke is admitted to practice law in California, Connecticut, Missouri and Utah.

Mr. Hapke holds BS and JD degrees from St. Louis University and between college and law school he served three years of active duty in the U.S.Navy as a line officer on sea duty.

From 1988 through 1997 Mr. Hapke served on the national board of directors of the American Corporate Counsel Association (ACCA) and in 1993 he chaired that board. Currently, Mr. Hapke sits on the boards of San Diego Habitat for Humanity, San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program and eLawForum Corporation and is active in the San Diego United Way Campaign Cabinet.
